  1. Hello! Loving that your back to posting! Glad your feeling better and up and running. Any chance you could do a video or series of pictures of your kodai trimming method? I’ve never gotten to really watch the karatsu style of kodai trimming live. I’ve seen some thicker wooden tools used but that crepe texture is divine. Is the key the clay, the tool, the consistency or the potter…or all of the above? Lol. I’ve been following you for about 5 years now. I am both a fellow potter and a Nichiren Shu Buddhist priest & high school art teacher.

    1. Hi James! Yes, I’ve figured out some easier ways to post to the various social media sites, including my blog. Last time we talked you were preparing some Chosen Karatsu tests. How did those turn out for you? The video you’re looking for is among the videos posted to Karatsupots, by Mike Martino on Facebook. I can’t remember the title, but for some reason remember that it is just over 11 minutes long. The clay is the biggest factor, followed by using a dull tool and trimming at the right consistency (very soft). I use metal strap bent to about 90* and unsharpened.
